St. Patricks Day Card

The luck of the Irish is always a thing to spread to friends and family. I was so honored to make this craft in honor of my mother because every year I would make one for my mother. It brought back such good memories of us together. So make sure to check out this Lucky St. Patricks Day Card that I enjoyed so much making!

DIY Instructions – How to Make St. Patricks Day Card

  1. Using Curious Skin, Emerald, 100lb cover, cut the card front to 6 1/4-inch by 7-inch and score it so that the final card front is 6 1/4-inch x 6 1/4-inch. Using the 1/4-inch ScorTape, line the 3/4-inch flap with 2 pieces so that when you fold then card shut this flap is to the back. Don’t pull the tape backing yet.
  1. Cut a second piece that is 6 1/4-inch x 6 1/4-inch. Place it on the front of the card and line it up exactly to make sure it fits. Pull the tape backing and being sure the 2 square shapes are aligned, push down the flap.
  1. For the next part I used a thin, dark, pencil line to get the ScorTape straight. With the flashy Gilding Flakes and the dark paper, it doesn’t show. I started with the 1/2-inch ScorTape that is vertical and to the left. The pencil line for this is 1 1/4-inch from the crease. The next piece of tape is 1/4-inch ScorTape and is 1/4-inch to the left of the wider tape. The 1/8-inch ScorTape is 3/8-inch from the previous tape. This final vertical piece of tape is 1/2-inch from the edge. So to summarize, each tape is approximately its own size from the previous one. Don’t pull the top of tape backing yet.
  1. On the back of the card, almost half an inch down the flap, add a 1/8-inch piece of ScorTape. Just for fun. Refer to the photos.
  1. Horizontally, I penciled in the top of the wide Shine, (Light) Gold, 107lb cover. For now ignore the 1/8-inch line of tape on top of this; I put in on last, as a guide for the lettering. This pencil line, for the Shine, is 3 3/4-inch from the top. Draw the pencil line darkly so you can line the Gold up easily. The Gold is 1 1/4-inch wide. I cut it at little longer than 6 1/4-inch and trimmed it later. Cut it now and place 2 pieces of 1/4-inch of ScorTape on the back of the Gold paper, top and bottom of the stripe.
  1. Now pull the backing of the tape that is currently down, which is the 3 vertical tape lines, and pull the backing on the Gold stripe, following the dark pencil line when you put it down. Go slow and eyeball it for minor adjustments before you really push it down. You can use Un-Du but it will pull up all the tape; I think I took one line of tape up and redid it. If you can’t see the pencil line, stop, and redo it. Once it is down, trim it.
  1. Carefully put the horizontal stripes on. Above the Gold stripe is a piece of 1/8-inch tape that is 1/8-inch above it. Below it is a 1/2-inch piece of tape that is 1/16-inch below the Gold stripe, but 1/8-inch would be fine. I just went for straight.
  1. And now the flash. Pull all of the remaining tape and add the Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes. I used Warm Sunrise and Red Blaze. The Red Blaze has some green in it. Use whatever you have.
  1. Using American Crafts, Gold Foil Letter Stickers, Sentiment, spell “irish” across the front of the card. It is a little over 5/8-inch from the right edge where the “h” bends over. Mostly just get them on there.
  1. Cut 5 Shamrocks with Martha Stewart’s Punch, Clover, and using a small round wooden stick, curl the edges a bit. Space them across the Gold stripe with Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue.
  1. For the message inside, print the Irish blessing on Neenah Cotton, Mint, 110lb cover; two messages to a page. The message is included in the photos. Trim each message to about 4 1/2-inch wide and a little over 6 1/4-inch long. Add some 1/2-inch ScorTape to the back and center it. Trim the overhang.

Enjoy!
